SmartEdge worked with the Cayuga Community College in Auburn, New York to develop an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) that will produce annual energy, operations and maintenance cost savings of over $139,000.  The $2M improvement program includes the following energy conservation measures:

  • Campus-wide Interior and Exterior Lighting Upgrades
  • Campus-wide HVAC Control System Integration
  • Main Building Chilled Water System Upgrade
  • Main Building Boiler and Heating System Upgrade
  • Main Building Motor and Variable Speed Drive Upgrades
  • Spartan Hall Motor and Control Upgrades
  • Technology Building New Windows and Entrance Ways
  • Technology Building Boiler and Heating System Upgrade
  • Technology Building Motor and Variable Speed Drive Upgrades
  • Technology Building Condensing Unit Replacement
  • REC and Main Building Geothermal System Improvements
  • Library Building Chiller Replacement and Chilled Water System Upgrade
  • Library Building Motor and Variable Speed Drive Upgrade

Prior to the implementation of the EPC, the college’s percentile rating under the Commercial Building  Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) Star was 71.  Upon completion of all of the energy conservation measures, the colleges’s rating will be 91 for a 20 percentile improvement.
